Adam Zanation
MD, MBA, FACS
Dr. Adam Zanation joined the Carolina ENT team following a distinguished career in The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UNC Chapel Hill. He has served in countless clinical and administrative roles including executive vice chair of strategy, fiscal planning and systems integration, vice chair for academic affairs, director of practice development, director of the Multidisciplinary Skull Base Center as well as director of the Head and Neck Surgery Robotics Program. He maintains an active leadership role in national and international professional surgical societies. Dr. Zanation has 200 peer reviewed articles to his name.
A native of Carrabus County, North Carolina, Dr. Zanation attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating with distinction and a research commendation. From 1997 to 2007, he completed his medical schooling at UNC, followed by completion of his surgical residency. Zanation subsequently completed his skull base surgery and oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center (UPMC). He returned to UNC as faculty in 2008, where is served as a Distinguished Professor. Dr. Zanation completed his MBA at the Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2021.
His clinical interests include comprehensive otolaryngology for adult and pediatric patients, including surgical management of complex endoscopic sinus surgery, in addition to head and neck oncology and robotics.
