A provider at Carolina Ear, Nose & Throat – Sinus and Allergy Center been honored by the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.
Willard C. Harrill, MD, is the recipient of the 2023 Jerome C. Goldstein, MD Public Service Award. The award recognizes academy members for commitment and achievement in service that improves patient welfare.
Dr. Harrill has been in practice sincecompleting his otolaryngology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1998. He also serves as clinical faculty in the Departments of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina and was president and CEO of Carolina Ear, Nose & Throat – Sinus and Allergy Center for 18 years.
“Dr. Harrill has positioned himself as a physician expert in the field of healthcare economics, and his passion is the transition of otolaryngology as a specialty from fee-for-service to a value-based system. He is giving grand rounds at 20 otolaryngology-head and neck surgery training programs in 2023 alone, and he helped draft the Academy’s response to Congress regarding improvement suggestions for the current MIPS program,” the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery stated in a press release.
Dr. Harrill is a leader on the Academy’s Physician Payment Policy (3P) workgroup and founder of BridgepointMD and Otolaryngology Health Policy Advisory Committee. He is also a speaker at many conferences.
As a Jerome C. Goldstein, MD Public Service Award, Dr. Harrill will be honored during the academy’s Annual Meeting with a commemorative certificate and $1,000 honorarium.
